Vehicle Number Plate Production

The Motor Traffic Department has signed a Rs. 3 billion agreement to restart vehicle number plate production after a 10-month halt. A new company has been contracted to begin production within three months.

Only in Sri Lanka do we turn a three-month production timeline into a suspense thriller where "starting soon" could mean anything from next week to next decade. Meanwhile, those number plates are getting more anticipation than a Bollywood movie trailer - with a budget that could probably buy every vehicle in the country a personalized gold-plated license frame.
