Vesak Holiday Announcement
The Sri Lankan government has revised the public holiday schedule for Vesak, declaring May 31 as a holiday. This change affects the previously planned May 2 holiday and accommodates the Vesak celebrations.
Only in Sri Lanka can we turn a religious holiday into a complex mathematical puzzle of date shifting and bureaucratic calendar gymnastics. Apparently, deciding when to celebrate Vesak is now more complicated than solving a Rubik's cube blindfolded during a power cut.
As Vesak falls on May 30 this year, the holiday scheduled for May 2 has been revised, and May 31 has been declared the public holiday for the day following Vesak, despite it being a Sunday: Ministry of Public Administration #lka #SriLanka #Vesak #Holiday https://t.co/4mkw1jgXS1
