Discussions about the role of Buddhism in Sri Lankan society, particularly concerning Article 9 and the social status of monks. Critical perspectives on the use of religious identity.
Buddha might be all about non-violence, but some monks are turning his teachings into the ultimate get-out-of-jail-free card. Guess the saffron robe is now less a symbol of spiritual enlightenment and more like a VIP pass for bad behavior.

Article 9 gives Buddhism the "foremost place" in #LKA, but this status is being hijacked. This arrest show that criminals are using the saffron robe as a social shield to avoid scrutiny. Who would dare search or question a monk? #Eelam #RightToSelfDetermination https://t.co/ZkcYPF2hYC
