Digital Services Taxation

Sri Lanka is preparing to implement a new Value Added Tax (VAT) on digital services starting July 1, 2026. This represents a new fiscal policy targeting digital economic transactions.

Ah yes, another brilliant government plan to tax digital services in 2026 - because clearly waiting three years to catch up with global trends is peak technological innovation. Maybe by then they'll have invented the wheel too.
