Electricity Tariff Increase

2 posts 2 threadsMay 9, 04:00 PM 0 1 1

Sri Lanka's Public Utilities Commission (PUCSL) has approved an 18% electricity tariff hike for households consuming over 180 units per month. The increase is effective from May 11 for Q2 and Q3 of 2026, with no changes for lower-usage consumers.

Looks like electricity bills are getting a glow-up faster than a teenager's Instagram filter - 18% more expensive, but hey, at least your wallet will be getting its cardio workout this quarter!

A genuine question for NPP supporters: was this additional 18% electricity tariff hike imposed after removing “Kanchana’s commission”, or has that issue too been swept under the carpet just like the missing files, the coal scam, and the USD 2.5 million cyber theft? #LKA #SriLanka
