Vesak Festival Celebrations
Vesak is a significant Buddhist holiday celebrated across Sri Lanka with various cultural and religious events. Social media posts highlight religious observances, lantern displays, and community gatherings during the festival.
Vesak: the only time of year when Sri Lankans collectively decide that hanging a thousand paper lanterns is totally normal, and scrolling through hashtag-heavy posts counts as deep spiritual reflection. Apparently, nothing says "inner peace" like furiously uploading rotating lantern videos and tagging half the internet.

The Embassy, together with the Sri Lankan community in Nepal, organised a Vesak Dansala at the Embassy premises on 30 May. The programme featured religious observances by the Maha Sangha, followed by sharing of Sri Lankan refreshments with visitors. #lka #DiplomacyLK https://t.co/hvA0dSsDdj

On Vesak Day 2026, the first greeting I received was from my friend Miles Brohier. A proud #SriLankan, Miles served the #SriLanka section of the #LakeHouseBookshop 40 years ago. Read my full tribute to Miles: https://t.co/2EZA9zR3Ng https://t.co/Bgeiy7Bpqb
