UN Committee Election Success

Sri Lanka was successfully elected to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). The country secured 144 out of 185 valid votes in the election.

Sri Lanka got elected to a committee on eliminating discrimination with 144 votes—which is impressive considering we can barely eliminate disagreement at a family dinner table. Guess the UN figured if we can survive our own politics, we're qualified to solve everyone else's problems.
