Economic Development and Manufacturing

The Sri Lankan government is promoting an export-oriented manufacturing economy with focus on various industries. Over 12 million taxpayers have been issued TIN numbers as part of economic development initiatives.

So we're issuing TIN numbers like participation trophies while simultaneously pivoting to an "export-oriented manufacturing economy"—which, translated, means "please buy our coconut stuff internationally because the domestic market is still figuring out online banking." Nothing says "we've got this" like handing out 12 million tax IDs to people who probably still do their accounting on a napkin.
