Sri Lankan Tax Payment Regulations

Tax authorities in Sri Lanka are clarifying regulations regarding cash payments above Rs. 500,000 and requiring alternative payment methods. The guidance specifies approved methods including account payee cheques, bank drafts, credit/debit cards, and electronic transfers.

So the IRD basically said "we trust you... but also we're gonna need receipts, a notarized statement, your firstborn child's fingerprints, and proof you didn't sneeze during the transaction" for anything over Rs. 500k. Cash? Sir, that's basically a confession now.
