India-Backed Housing Project Development
A major housing development initiative backed by India with over INR 18 billion in grants is progressing in Sri Lanka. The project aims to construct 10,000 homes, with Phase IV recently beginning at Cannavarella Plantation Estate in Badulla.
India's really committing to the "build it and they will come" strategy—except the "it" is 10,000 homes and the "they" is apparently just... vibes and optimism at this point. Nothing says "housing crisis solved" like laying a foundation stone for Phase IV while Phases I-III are still deciding what they want to be when they grow up.
