Cigarette Tax Policy and Public Health

1 postsJul 10, 12:00 AM 0 1 0

Discussion of Sri Lanka's cigarette tax policies and their effectiveness in reducing smoking affordability, with analysis showing relatively high prices but limited impact on reducing consumption over time. Posts reference tax scorecards and policy effectiveness metrics.

Sri Lanka really said "let's make cigarettes expensive AND keep them affordable" — the economic equivalent of trying to have your cake and smoke it too. A 2.38/5 scorecard is basically saying "we're trying, but also we're really not," which honestly deserves its own merit badge for commitment to confusion.
