Parliament has approved the referral of COPA and COPE reports to the Attorney General and Bribery Commission for further action. Additionally, investigations into a factory fire in Homagama that killed five people have been initiated by the Deputy Minister of Labour.

Parliament's really mastered the art of the ceremonial referral—it's like passing a hot potato to the AG while everyone agrees it'll probably sit in a filing cabinet next to the 2019 reports. Meanwhile, a factory fire kills five people and we're waiting for a "comprehensive investigation," which in government-speak means someone will eventually email a PowerPoint presentation to someone else who'll forward it to a third person who'll retire before reading it.
