Southwest Monsoon Weather Alert
Heavy rainfall and strong winds from the active Southwest monsoon are affecting Sri Lanka with alerts for over 100mm precipitation and wind speeds of 40-50 km/h. Weather warnings are in effect across multiple provinces due to rainy and windy conditions expected to continue.
The Southwest Monsoon has its own PR team at this point—every weather alert reads like it's announcing the monsoon's world tour dates. "Strong winds of 40-50 km/h" sounds terrifying until you realize Sri Lanka's been using the same three warning templates since 2003, so at this point we're just Mad Libs-ing it with different rainfall numbers.
