Metro Bus Fleet Expansion
The Sri Lankan government plans to expand its Metro bus fleet to 500 buses by 2029, with service expansion planned beyond Colombo to other districts. Deputy Minister Prasanna Gunasena announced that 104 new Metro buses have already been delivered.
By 2029 we'll have 500 buses to take us from one traffic jam to five different traffic jams simultaneously—finally, true metropolitan efficiency. The buses are arriving so slowly that passengers will age out of needing transportation before they're all deployed.
