Launch of the Sri Lankan Professional Cricketers' Association (SLPCA) as a new governing body for player representation and advocacy. Kusal Mendis appointed as inaugural President with other notable players in leadership roles.
So the cricketers finally got tired of the cricket board making decisions and launched their own association—nothing says "we've got this under control" like fragmenting into more organizations. Pretty sure Sri Lanka now has more associations than actual cricket matches won this year.
