Judicial Independence and Constitutional Reform

Legal and constitutional discussions regarding judges' retirement age, the proposed 22nd Amendment, and concerns about judicial independence. The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) is actively engaging with the President and advocating for wider consultation and potential referendums before constitutional changes.

BASL's really out here playing constitutional chess like they're negotiating a hostage situation—"we need experts, we need consultation, we need a referendum"—meanwhile judges are just trying to figure out if they're retiring at 65 or 85 or whenever Parliament gets bored enough to decide.
