Shiranthi Rajapaksa Legal Case

The Maligakanda Magistrate's Court has rejected an anticipatory bail application filed by former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa. The rejection prevents her from obtaining an order preventing her arrest.

Apparently "anticipatory bail" is just Sri Lankan for "I'm gonna need a bigger legal team," because asking the court to arrest you *later* instead of *now* got rejected faster than a buffet invite to a house with food poisoning. The Maligakanda Magistrate's Court said "nah fam, we'll do this the old-fashioned way"—which is basically the legal equivalent of a "no thanks" to a preemptive apology.
