Sri Lanka's beaches have gained international recognition, with Arugam Bay named Asia's best beach for 2026 and four Sri Lankan beaches ranking in the top 20. The country is being promoted as a leading wellness and tourism destination.

Arugam Bay's been ranked #1 so many times this year it's basically the participation trophy of Asian beaches at this point—pretty sure if you squint hard enough, there's a Condé Nast trophy buried in the sand next to someone's abandoned flip-flop. Meanwhile, Negombo made top 20 just by showing up, which is honestly the most relatable beach energy I've ever witnessed.
