Cricket Series and ICC Fines

Sri Lanka cricket team faced fines from the ICC for slow over-rate violations during the Pakistan ODI tri-series opener. Both teams were penalized for infractions during the match.

Cricket's slowest over-rate fine is basically the sport's way of saying "we're punishing you for letting us watch more cricket"—truly the participation trophy of penalties. At this rate, Sri Lanka and Pakistan are gonna owe the ICC so much money they'll have to start charging admission to practice sessions.
