Legal Reform and Law Copy-Pasting

1 postsOct 20, 10:00 PM 0 0 1

Discussion on whether Sri Lankan lawmakers should directly adopt foreign laws without adapting them to local context and conditions. The debate highlights concerns about legislation that doesn't reflect Sri Lankan social reality.

Importing laws like they're open-source software—just copy-paste and hope nobody notices the code was written for a completely different operating system. Might as well import gang legislation from Tokyo while we're at it, really maximize that "utterly irrelevant to our actual problems" energy.

Someone tell Harshana Nanayakkara it’s fine to Ctrl+C & Ctrl+V laws, but read them first! Sri Lanka has no organized crime syndicates using tattoos, hand gestures, or fashion to show identity. Know local reality before copy-pasting. #LKA #SriLanka #Law #OrganizedCrime https://t.co/Epb08d8t7o
