Police Investigation into Viral Misinformation

Sri Lanka Police are investigating false claims that circulated on social media regarding alleged questioning of a youth over a curse poem at Dematagoda Police station. The investigation was launched on Inspector General of Police orders to address the misinformation.

So we've reached the point where the police need a whole investigation unit just to fact-check whether they themselves did something—it's like calling a plumber to investigate if water is wet, except the plumber is also the water.
